Stockholm is extremely child-friendly and it is an ideal city for family visits. Most museums also have children’s corner with special activities. They also often have cafes or restaurants with special menus for the kids . Some of the favorite places for children are Junibacken – the fantastic world of author Astrid Lindgren; the Vasa Museum nearby is child-friendly as well as Grona Lund amusement park and Skansen open-air museum. And if your kids are interested in music, don’t forget a visit to the ABBA museum.

There’s plenty of room for running around and adventure – with its broad pavements, green parks and location right on the water, Stockholm is a great place for running, jumping and discovering.
Discover the magical world of stories at Junibacken – a place just bubbling with things to do and see, adventure and mischief. In the center of it all is the story train – a journey into the storybook world of Astrid Lindgren.
Skansen is the world’s first open-air museum, founded in 1891. This cultural-history park contains 150 buildings of historical interest, including houses, farms, running workshops and special historical scenes. Wildlife typical of Scandinavia, such as elk, wolves and bears, can be seen in the park, while the Skansen Aquarium features exotic snakes and primates. Lill-Skansen (Little Skansen) is a children’s zoo with goat kids, hedgehogs, small pigs, ducks and kittens.
In Stockholm you can swim right in the center of the city and there are several beaches to choose from. Smedsuddsbadet at Kungsholmen is one of them and it is very popular among families with children. Enjoy a day at the beach in the middle of the city but far from stress and traffic.
There are plenty of sightseeing tours and excursions all year round – perfect for the whole family.
